Marios G. Eliades studied Law and Economics at the University of Athens. A Barrister-at-Law from Grays Inn, London, he pursued post-graduate studies in Management at the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in France, followed by Economic Development and Social Reform at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

In 1970, he established Marios Eliades & Co.(now Eliades, Paschalides, Hadjianastasiou & Co.), Advocates & Legal Consultants, Nicosia, Cyprus.

In 1978, he was appointed Minister of Communications & Works of the Republic of Cyprus.

In 1981, Eliades was appointed Chairman of the Cyprus Petroleum Refinery Ltd. In 1985, with the active support of the American Bureau of Shipping, Eliades founded the Cyprus Bureau of Shipping. He has served as non-executive director in various public and private companies.

In March 1990, Eliades set up and served as Chairman of the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association, a non-profit organisation. In September 1990, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation where he served until August 1994. In April 1999, he was elected and appointed member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Cyprus. In July 2001, he was appointed Vice-Chairman of the same Board.

Vice President of the European Movement Association of Cyprus and a member of the Board of Governors of the Friends of Cyprus Museum Association, he has lectured extensively in Europe, the USA, and Asia on European and global issues.

Since October 1999, he has served as the first Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Andreas Papandreou Foundation in Cyprus.
