MP, Former Minister of Defense, Former Minister for Foreign Affairs, FYROM

Blagoj Handziski was born in 1948. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Electro-technical Engineering, University of Skopje, with an MSc. and a PhD from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. He has held various academic posts including Lecturer in Electro-technical Engineering at St. Cirilus and Methodius University, Skopje and Professor Emeritus at the University of Skopje.

His political activity began as Chairman of the State Community for Education (1986 - 1990). He served as a Member of Parliament from 1990 - 1994 and as Secretary General of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) (1993 - 1995). He was appointed Minister for Defence in 1994, a position he held until he became Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1997 - 1998. Since 1998, Blagoj Handziski has served as a Member of Parliament and a Member of the Parliamentary Committees for Foreign Affairs, Defence, Education and Culture.

He is married with three children.
