Mr. Lambrinidis is a member of the European Parliament with the Greek Socialist Party since 2004. Prior to that, Mr. Lambrinidis was Director of the International Olympic Truce Center, an international NGO founded by the International Olympic Committee, with a goal to promote the Olympic Truce during all future Olympic Games and beyond. Since August 1999, Mr. Lambrinidis is Ambassador at Large of Greece. He has served as member of the Steering Committee on the negotiation and implementation of nine bilateral agreements with Turkey in a wide range of fields. He also served as coordinator of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' preparations for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. From October 1996 to August 1999, Mr. Lambrinidis served as Secretary General of the Greek Foreign Ministry responsible for Greeks Abroad.  

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in political sciences and economics (Amherst College, 1984), and a J.D. from Yale Law School (1988).
